Triad Veterans Receive Long-Overdue Medals

Winston-Salem, NC -- Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) was in the Triad Monday to give 16 medals to a pair of Triad army veterans.
Robert Hooper retired from the Army after 20 years of service in 1964. Hooper died in 2007, but his wife and family accepted his medals. He served in both World War II and the Korean War. His wife accepted a Purple Heart Medal, Good Conduct Medal, fourth award, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 1 bronze service star, World War II Victory medal, Army of Occupation Medal with Germany clasp and Japan clasp, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with one silver service star, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, and a United Nations Service Medal.
Larry Wayne Adams was on hand to recieve his award. He served from 1969 to 1971. He received the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon, and a Sharpshooter Badge with Auto Rifle Bar and Rifle Bar.
