Today, Sen. Burr, along with Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA), penned a letter to Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki to express their support for the joint effort between the Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs to create an Electronic Health Records system. A joint Electronic Health Records (EHR) will be a helpful tool to guarantee continuity of care as men and women transition out of active service into the civilian world. By maintaining and sharing health information electronically, both Departments could potentially save money since they will no longer have to maintain two outdated software systems.
