ADVISORY: Bipartisan Congressional, Conservation Leaders to Launch 100-Day #SaveLWCF Campaign

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senators Richard Burr (R-NC), Maria Cantwell (D-WA), Steve Daines (R-MT), Michael Bennett (D-CO) and Jon Tester (D-MT) announced today that they would hold a press conference on Wednesday, June 20th at 9:30 a.m. to mark 100 days until the authorization of the Land and Water Conservation Fund expires.

What: Bipartisan press conference to urge Congress to permanently reauthorize the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF).

Who: Senators Richard Burr (R-NC), Maria Cantwell (D-WA), Steve Daines (R-MT), Michael Bennet (D-CO), and Jon Tester (D-MT), the Nature Conservancy, the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy and other groups to highlight the successes of the Land and Water Conservation Fund.

Background: The Land and Water Conservation Fund is one of the nation’s oldest and most successful conservation programs, which operates with no taxpayer funding. Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) has introduced S. 896, a bill to permanently reauthorize the Land and Water Conservation Fund, and Representative Raul Grijalva (D-AZ-3) has introduced similar legislation in the House. This vital program expires on September 30, 2018.
