Burr on Finance Committee’s IRS Report: IRS Damaged Americans’ Trust

WASHINGTON – Today, Senator Richard Burr (R-NC), a member of the Senate Finance Committee, made the following statement on the Committee’s release of the bipartisan report on the Internal Revenue Service’s targeting of organizations applying for tax-exempt status based on political affiliation:

“The Internal Revenue Service has seriously damaged the trust of the American people, as evidenced by the Finance Committee’s bipartisan report. Personal politics of IRS employees, including Lois Lerner, have no place in government. I’m thankful the Finance Committee was able to compile the facts so that we can work on reforms that will prevent Americans from being targeted for their political beliefs.”
