Burr Praises Unanimous Passage of National Defense Authorization Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Richard Burr released the following statement regarding the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act:

“Today, the Senate unanimously passed the Conference Report for the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2018, which authorized $692.1 billion to start rebuilding our military that was decimated by the previous administration. This legislation includes $293 million for Military Construction in North Carolina, including a new Water Treatment Plant at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, a vertical lift-fan test facility for 94 incoming F-35B’s at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, and several projects at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base for 12 incoming KC-46 Tankers. Furthermore, this bill delivers a long overdue 2.4% pay increase to our troops, begins the process of improving collaboration between the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs’ healthcare systems, and expands healthcare eligibility for the Guardsman and Reservists of our Armed Forces. I urge the President to quickly sign this bill into law so that our military has the tools it needs to defend our country across the globe.”
