Sen. Burr Statement on President Trump’s Nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to U.S. Supreme Court

Today, Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) released the following statement after President Trump nominated Judge Amy Coney Barrett of the U.S Court of Appeals for the SeventhCircuit to fill the current vacancy on the United States Supreme Court:

“President Trump has made a solid choice in nominating Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court. Judge Barrett is a highly accomplished and respected candidate. She has led a distinguished career, serving over the years as a law clerk for Justice Antonin Scalia, a professor at University of Notre Dame Law School, and as a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, where she currently presides. As a jurist, Judge Barrett has demonstrated her commitment to upholding the Constitution and interpreting the law as it is written. I supported Judge Barrett’s circuit court appointment in 2017 and I believe the Senate should vote on her Supreme Court nomination as soon as the process allows.”
