Sen. Burr Statement on Retirement of Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) today released the following statement on the retirement of Justice Anthony Kennedy from the U.S. Supreme Court:

“As the longest serving member of the current Supreme Court, Justice Kennedy has played a defining role in shaping our modern legal framework. I want to thank him for his 43 years of service on the federal bench, and wish him and his family a long and happy retirement.

“The Senate will now do its job by considering and voting to confirm the President’s nominee to fill this vacancy. It is imperative that we maintain a Supreme Court committed to upholding the Constitution and to interpreting our laws as they are written.”
