Senate Intel Chairman Burr Statement after Meeting with Former Sen. Coats, Nominee for Director of National Intelligence

WASHINGTON –Senator Richard Burr (R-NC), Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, made the following statement after meeting with former Senator Dan Coats (R-Indiana) whom President Donald Trump has nominated to be the next Director of National Intelligence:

“President Trump could not have selected a more qualified or distinguished individual to lead our Intelligence Community than my friend and colleague Dan Coats.  Dan’s honorable military service, time as U.S. Ambassador to Germany, and decades of service to our country have prepared him well to serve as the next Director of National Intelligence.  He is an excellent choice and I look forward to supporting his nomination and working with him in his new role.”
