Senator Burr Delivers Remarks on Senate Floor in Support of Legislation to Enable Law Enforcement to More Effectively Combat Terrorism
WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Richard Burr (R-NC), Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee made remarks on the Senate Floor on his legislation with Senator John McCain (R-AZ), Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee. The amendment would enable the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to more quickly obtain the electronic transaction records of suspected terrorists. The amendment failed to move forward on a vote of 58-38, but the Senate may reconsider the vote this week.
Sen Burr: “We are here today to fix something that’s broken. This is simply to provide law enforcement with tools that enable them to fulfill their mission, which is to keep America safe.”
